Back to School with Brand New Hairdos

Four young girls get ready for the new school year with a visit to the Grand Salon at Polaris Parkway.

Sixth grader, Megan Miller, donated 12" of hair to Wigs for Kids and got a completely new look.  Senior Director, Connie, gave Megan a sling-bob, which will be an easy-to-do style for Megan in the morning.

Alexandra Rodenfels, high school freshman, was looking for an age-appropriate look that she could manage with her busy dancing schedule.  Director, Zoey, added highlights for depth and dimension and gave Alexandra a swoop bang to frame her face.

Nine-year-old Donya Rahimi has naturally curly hair and often had trouble styling it.  Lucy, Director, used brand-new DevaCurl products to play up Donya's curls.

To compliment Cheyenne Gioffre's rocker-girl style, Lucy gave her an edgy bob with texture around her face.

All four girls left the salon with brand new styles, ready to kick-off another school year!

The Star Treatment: Deep Tissue/Sports Massage

Brittany, CW Star,  has been enjoying the summer weather and running on a regular basis.  This month, we treated her to a Deep Tissue/Sports massage to help loosen any of her tight muscles.

Brenda, Massage Therapist at the Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Gahanna/New Albany, explained that this custom-tailored, hour long service targets deeper muscle tissue to release tension, relieve stiffness, and soothe muscle soreness. The techniques used in this massage help improve muscle function.

Brittany asked several common questions regarding Deep Tissue/Sports Massage.  Some of your own questions might be answered...check it out!

Galloway Mother Receives Makeover and is Amazed at the Reveal

LaTonya, mother from Galloway, was fed up with her brother's remarks about her style and nominated herself for a makeover at the Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Dublin.

Hair Professional | Senior Director, Tiche, provided LaTonya with a new style and added carmel highlights for dimension.  Sunny, Senior Esthetician, provided an eyebrow threading service to give LaTonya the perfect arch to open up her eyes.  Jaden, Esthetician, provided LaTonya with a full makeup consultation, gave her tips on complimentary colors and how to apply makeup; even with a busy lifestyle.

LaTonya was brought to tears at the final reveal and realized that although the days are busy, it's okay to take a little time for herself.

Strong-Willed Cancer Survivor Won Makeover

Kathy, strong-willed cancer survivor, won a makeover at the Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Dublin and vowed to help others just as we helped her!

After losing her hair from treatment, Kathy had not cut it in 8 years.  She arrived to the salon ready for a change!

Hair Professional | Senior Director, Destiny, took off 12" of length, added soft layers for volume and warmed Kathy's color with highlights. Kathy donated her hair to "Wigs for Kids," an Ohio-based non-proft organization supporting young kids, and included an inspirational note for the recipient.  Joy, Master Esthetician, provided Kathy with makeup application and color palette tips.

Kathy was amazed at the transformation.  As we walked through the lobby after her final reveal she said, "Oh my, I just got a double-take from someone.  I normally don't even get a glance."

2009 Wedding Trends for Brides and Bridesmaids

I recently collaborated with BCR Studios, a new wedding photography and videography studio located in the Short North.  I worked with Evan Swart, photographer, for a mock wedding photo shoot.  Sophia, an associate in the Charles Penzone Career Advancement Program, lent her expertise applied formal makeup on the models.

To illustrate the wide range of bridal looks, we went for a very different look on each model.  The bride was classic, yet followed the most modern and common bridal hair trend of the 2009 season: strategically placed loose waves, all pulled up.  Sophia mirrored the natural twist on formality in her makeup.

Our creative and eclectic side was inspired by the bright colors and retro silhouette of the bridesmaid dress.  While Sophia accented the color scheme in the model’s eye makeup, I revisited 1960’s ratting techniques but sculpted the hair asymmetrically for a youthful edge.

Whether classic or eclectic, Charles Penzone professionals are always tuned into the latest trends and can help achieve the perfect look for brides and their wedding parties.
