Top 3 Spring Makeup Trends that Charles Penzone Estheticians Love

Spring is finally here, and Estheticians at The Charles Penzone are ready to welcome the season! We have put together three great looks highlighting the latest makeup trends for Spring 2011.

1.     Matte Bold Lip

Bring in the new season with a fruity punch of color on the lips!  Choose from our matte Youngblood Lipstick shades available at all Charles Penzone Grand Salon locations.  Our favorite matte lipstick shades are Vivid (coral), Envy (raspberry pink), or Vixen (candy apple red)!  Keep your eye makeup simple so your lips do all the talking.  Think matte's not all that?  Give your pout a little "juice” with a coat of Youngblood’s Guava lipgloss.

2.    Colorful Smokey Eye

Smoke is still going strong for spring but, in a colorful way!  Add some "pop” to your eyes by using a rich, vibrant shade like Youngblood Pressed Eyeshadow in Sapphire. Or you can complete the whole smokey eye look by purchasing Youngblood’s Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Majesty. The possibilities are as bright as you want them to be! 3.    Natural, Luminous Skin

Get the fresh faced look of baby soft skin for the season with our flawless finish Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation.  Our full coverage loose powder foundation glides effortlessly onto the skin and gives you that luminous healthy glow. Add a little Crushed Mineral Blush in Tulip (pictured here) for a natural flush, and a hint of sun with Mineral Radiance in Sunshine. Give yourself a touch of glamour with our Lunar Dust in Sunset in all the right places.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are hypoallergenic and easy to use.  Call 614.418.5350 or visit charlespenzone.com to schedule a Makeup Application or Makeup Application and Lesson with one of our licensed estheticians to learn how to make these trendy Spring 2011 looks your own!

Top 5 Spring Hair Trends that Charles Penzone Hair Professionals love

With the seasons changing and winter coming to an end, there is no better time than to spring forward with a new trendy, change!

Here are the Top 5 Spring Hair Trends that The Charles Penzone Hair Professionals love!

1.    Go super short.

Short haircuts are always in style.  This Spring, the celebs set the trend for super short pixie crops.  Can we say Emma Watson?  This sexy style is characterized by short sides and an ever-so slightly longer top and fringe.  The top and sides blend perfectly for a modern revolution of a classic 60s style!

2.    Try something new and switch up your part!

Far Side Part:  This part is completely versatile for any hairstyle or texture.  The key to finding your perfect part is to use a comb!  Place a comb flat against the side of your head. The spot where your head leaves the comb is where the part should be placed.  Ta da!   For an added effect, pin back the side of your hair that the part is on.

Middle Part: Hair history is making a comeback! Try a sleek or messy look, part it down the middle and you're instantly transformed!

3.    Ready to shed some inches for the spring?  Try a bob!

Bob with Fringe: The bob is back yet again…but this time, it’s reinterpreted just a bit.  The 2011 trend is slightly longer and often sports a fringe.  This year’s style is softer and may have a more rounded shape.

Waved Bob: For those who have rocked a bob for awhile and desire a slightly different look, the waved bob hairstyle is an on-trend way to style your locks for something fresh and new!

4.    Here's a bright idea!  Brighten up your look with highlights or color!

Highlights:  If you haven't tried color yet, here is your chance!  Ask your hair professional for a low-maintenance, just got back from the beach look.  This adds a few face-framing highlights, combined with lighter ends and darker roots.  You will have a refreshing change, without a lot of maintenance.

Red, Red, Red:  Want to go for a radical, mesmerizing change?  Go red or go home!  The red color palette is an endless array of warm, rich, bright hues which will be sure to turn many heads with your new hot and spicy red!

5.    Bang, bang, bangs are going to continue to be HUGE in 2011!

Blunt Bangs:  These bangs give a retro feel to a modern trend.  Blunt bangs should be thick and below the eyebrows, longer on the sides, and of course, blunt.

Side Bang:  Don't worry Side-Bangers, you are still hip to the trend!  So keep rockin' it!

Faux Swoop Bang:  For those of you who want a quick style change but are not yet ready to commit to a full-on bang, try this! Grab a bobby-pin or barrette, a spray wax (we recommend Lanza Spray Wax for only $20, at any of The Charles Penzone Salons locations), and loosely pin your bangs to either side, smoothing fly-aways with the wax.

So whether you’re going to be springing into sprucing up your color or you’re going to be daring by adding a bang; be sure to schedule your spring time appointments by either calling 614.418.5350 or by scheduling an appointment online!
